About Us

The OKAND is a professional association of  naturopathic doctors working in the state of Oklahoma. Our members are graduates of accredited four-year, graduate level naturopathic medical programs, accredited by the Council on Naturopathic Medical Education and recognized by the US Department of Education.

Our mission is to provide safe and effective naturopathic medical care and to educate the public about the benefits of naturopathic medicine in the pursuit of licensure for the state of Oklahoma.

Licensure & Advocacy

Oklahoma citizens deserve the right and freedom to pursue naturopathic treatment. They should also be afforded protection, assurance and the peace of mind that their provider has achieved established education and medical training standards. Licensure means professional medical standards must be met. At this time Oklahoma is not a licensed state for naturopathic medicine

You can help!  You can help achieve licensure for naturopathic medicine in the state of Oklahoma by speaking up.

  1. Write, call or email your local legislator and let them know you would value and support the licensure of NDs. If you would like to sign a prepared letter and send to the OKAND for our records of public support click here (coming soon).
  2. Follow-us on social media and help spread the word!
  3. Become involved! Contact us if you would like to assist with with fundraising, communication or events

Currently, 17 states, the District of Columbia, and the United States territories of Puerto Rico and the United States Virgin Islands have licensing or regulation laws for naturopathic doctors. In these states, naturopathic doctors are required to graduate from an accredited four-year residential naturopathic medical school and pass an extensive postdoctoral board examination (NPLEX) in order to receive a license*.  Our members hold their medical license in a state that licenses naturopathic physicians and they practice with specific restrictions in the state of Oklahoma, since Oklahoma is not currently a licensed state.

Licensed naturopathic physicians must fulfill state-mandated continuing education requirements annually, and will have a specific scope of practice defined by their state's law.
