The OKAND is dedicated to pursuing and supporting safe and effective naturopathic medical care for the citizens of Oklahoma. Our board and members consist of licensed naturopathic doctors who have graduated from naturopathic medical programs, accredited by the Council on Naturopathic Medical Education and recognized by the US Department of Education. Did you know that naturopathic doctors are not yet licensed in Oklahoma? Our members hold their medical license in a state that licenses naturopathic doctors and they practice with specific restrictions in the state of Oklahoma, since Oklahoma is not currently a licensed state. Currently, 22 states, the District of Columbia, and the United States territories of Puerto Rico and the United States Virgin Islands have licensing or regulation laws for naturopathic doctors. Who will benefit from working with a naturopathic doctor? Both patients & health care providers can benefit from from learning about naturopathic medicine and working with a naturopathic doctor (ND). Since ND's are highly trained heath care providers with expertise in natural medicine, they can provide the highest quality natural medicine, monitor for drug herb interactions and work collaboratively with other health care providers for best patient care. Many physicians are electing to refer their patients to a licensed naturopathic doctor for safe and effective guidance. |
